Technological to Virtual Art

a book by Frank Popper

Over three decades ago, when most of the art history establishment was clueless about technology-inspired art, Frank Popper was there recognizing its importance, organizing shows, and trying to help readers understand its implications.–Stephen Wilson

In my constant struggle to prevent technology from taking over my life, I have recently attempted to find good historical references relating to the rise of computing and the arts. Computing, as the vehicle that has of accelerated the pace of technological advances, should be considered within the context of other technologies and their relation to art. More importantly, the role of art should be seen within pressing issues of our time, in politics, the community, the environment and all else within our relations with each other and with our earth.  I have yet to read this book, but at least I know now of an author/historian worth looking up. Now, I just have to find it, read it, discern it. Has anyone else picked this book up?
