Jerry Leviatan Met The Walrus in 1969, Animation in 2007


Browsing the RSS feed of Mother Jones’s (smart, fearless journalism) articles I ran into this inspiring piece of animated illustration and typography. Surely you’ll find hundreds of animated “doc films” on popular video sites, but how many feature the {en:John Lennon} himself?

In 1969 Jerry Levitan, then 14 years old, found his way into John Lennon’s room in the King Edward Hotel in Toronto, with a tape recorder. Lennon, patient and generous (traits that would one day, alas, prove expensive), gave him a wonderful interview. Here is the brilliant animated short film made from that tape.
